Premarital Mathematics
A synopsis of a recent conversation with my grandfather which I found amusing. Witnessed by Heather and Kyle. Amazing the discussions you can get into when you can outrun a cane thwacking.
ME: Grandfather, we've been doing some math involving some dates and we came upon a connundrum.
GRANDFATHER: What would that be?
ME: Well... when you subtract my mother's birthdate from your wedding date to grandmother... it just doesn't seem to add up to 9 months.
GRANDFATHER: That's cause she was premature.
ME: She was a pretty heavy baby for being premature.
GRANDFATHER: (peers intently over dark glasses) Fine, she wasn't premature.
Conversation continues over a stack of photo albums, until he thrusts a finger at a picture of a funeral home he worked at when grandmother was pregnant.
GRANDFATHER: Your grandmother and I lived here when she was pregnant with your mother.
ME: So what you are telling me is that you were getting busy in a funeral home, on top of being not married before you got busy?
GRANDFATHER: *peers about for cane*
