Coingate and the Woes of the Black Marker (Ohio)

Poor Governor Taft (Ohio) is besieged by the return of the Coingate scandal yet again. What did he know? When did he know it? That's what his opponents and constituents are rallying to know.

All this from a series of bad investments made by the administration in the State of Ohio concerning the Bureau of Worker's Compensation and other agencies. It seems that 'someone' allowed the transfer of funds to unsecure investments in coinage and other issues which were then lost.

The Governor now is claiming "Executive Privilege" in relation to documentation from that time as State Senators scramble to obtain memos and other records from staff to nail down what was going on. A lot of action for the good old black marker as it censors out all the nice tidbits in all the revealed documentation.

My thought on this? You don't have the right to claim executive privelege to protect YOURSELF in a scandal which harmed the financial security of thousands of Ohioans. The Governor needs to own up to whatever his responsibility is (it seems he may be friends with this person that misappropriated the funds), what he knew when, etc. If he is responsible, he needs to step down immediately. If he is not, he needs to go on a man hunt and fix it, and stop protecting these white collar embezzlers in government.
