Reflective
I ponder where you could be now.
Do you yet toil down the same road so long set upon,
forever the optimist, certain to succeed?
Have you gained all that you set after,
living a life beyond anyone's wildest dreams?
Did you find the peace you sought so hard,
and so steadfastly pursued?
I wonder what you look like now.
Does your hair still fall in a cascade about your brow,
caressing your shoulders in black satin curls?
Do your eyes yet look upon the world with a glimmer of hope,
holding me in pause til your next blink?
Does your smile still rise to dimples in your cheeks,
only to erupt in lilting laughter that is music to my ears?
I wish I knew your thoughts even now.
Do you remember the talks, so long and serious,
when time slipped past with both of us delirious of its passage?
Am I but a fading memory, lost in a swirl
of years gone by?
Does your mind's eye see each moment spent together
again as if it were only yesterday?
