Rant Rant Rant
This is likely all just a reiteration of what Kali has already posted on the mud blog, but i'm gonna vent my thoughts anyway:
I am somewhat still in shock concerning the state of Time of Darkness. I cannot believe what has been going on these last few weeks, ending in the latest issue concerning the unknown return of Nemesis. I cannot explain how frustrated I am about this whole issue. Not from the fact that Kali chose to shutdown the mud. I am more irritated that it just seems to be one issue after another until it just proves to be too much.
Since when has it ever been okay to run rampant over a game implementor or immortal just because you didn't like a ruling on a game standard rule. Why does one immortal get singled out as the 'bad guy' to a tirade, when ALL of us make the decision equally, setting rules and standards for play. The adult thing to do is to just stop playing, log off for a while and just chill out. Everyone likes to make it look like the immortals, or a specific immortal is out to get them... make a big drama queen scene and be vindicated right even though they are sitting on their ass in the cooler. I'm tired of it.
I'm tired of the seemingly blase' attitude of some players to the work we immortals put in to make the game enjoyable. I don't believe for an instant that more than a marginal fraction of the players even understand how long it takes to code something stable and fair, plan and build areas that people will want to interact in, clan hall preparation, etc. You know, we all have fucking lives too. I'm tired of the lack of appreciation, the incessant whining from some camps, the constant bickering. How many times issues have to be mediated. How many times issues have to be resolved. I do what I do for the appreciation of the game and the want to make it better.
I fail to understand why people continue to fail to separate reality from game-play. How many times do I have to sit and listen to a group of players pick each other apart personally over something that happened on the game. This is beyond stupid to me. You come to a fantasy world to separate from reality, to lose yourself in the adventure and you end up getting a corn cob up the posterior over someone sticking it to you in some dark alley in the game world. Get over yourselves already.
I'm tired of being accused of cheating. Of making opportunities for myself, certain clans, certain people. I seriously doubt anyone knows any of my mortal alts, or how often I choose to play them. Anyone who knows me, knows I detest cheaters, knows how many places I have left just to get away from cheating immortals. I am the last person that would be around a group of less than trustworthy people. Yet, we all get accused of cheating or favortism, or whatever on a consistant basis. Tired of it.
I am frustrated that I feel like all the work, and the work the others have done, may just be gone because a group of people want to have their way and make the game contemptable to even be on.
I completely agree with Kali's decision in this. A big time-out was necessary. I would rather see the mud end with some dignity. I would rather have all my work be put to rest then to just continue with this current nonsense.
