Today I'm with mom. It's Physical Therapy day. This means I'm driving her car and subject to endless amounts of Talk Radio. Of course that means Rush Limbaugh. During his usual spouting and bloviation he said something that today, was on the same venue as Don Imus and the "nappy headed ho's" statement.
As usual he was discussing President elect, Barack Obama..yet this time, the great King of ill-respect, broke out into a song about Obama...to the tune of "Puff, the magic Dragon" as he sang "Barack, the Magic NEGRO."
Our mouths dropped. My mother's Jamaican aide said " that's fucked up."
Why can't he just be Barack, the Magic Messiah or Barack the Magic President. Why did he have to bring race into it like we're supposed to demean the man by rubbing his magic head or belly.
It's just WRONG! I mean, if he was Irish, would he be the magic Leprechaun??
Why be racist about it? Yes... he is the countries first black-ish President( the next goal is a 100 percenter) , but it's all about how you say it. Rush sounded derogatory and it came off that way.
I'm sorry Rush... Once again, you've angered the people. Mostly minorities who celebrated his election and also in the same turn, you've shown your bigotry. Why not be a patriot and not act like a Klansman and stand behind the president elect in the name of saving our country.
If you want to be against him because you don't think he can handle the job or because you're Republican, that's one thing. Just don't be rude or obnoxious because he's not white.
