What's the deal with these "continued on insertwebsitehere.com" advertising?
I'm a tad annoyed with these ads you see on TV. Y'know the ones where they tell you to go see the finale on the website? If I'm in front of a TV, finish it there. None of this incomplete story crap. It seemed to start when BMW did it with the short films. Later, you were able to get them in magazines on DVD so it redeemed itself. Lately, some commercial that shows some guy trying to figure out some great pressing plan of action, stops and then says if you want to see the end, go to this website. That annoyed me. Out of principle, I've decided I'm not going to fall for
that trick.
The BIGGEST let down was when I wanted to hear the "Now you're messin'" mashup (whatever happened to the word "remix"? When did "mashup" become the term?) of some rapper with the old Nazareth song "Hair of the dog". So this radio station ad says: "wanna hear the entire song? Go to www.dodge.com/charger and download the entire song!" This sounded great! Then I went. They have a little graphic about the song and says if you want to download it, click here which takes you to itunes.com. This also means you have to pay for it. If you're going to offer something to someone for the sole purpose of going to look at a website for a product you have absolutely no interest in, then offer you to get something implying that you'd get it for free... well then that's just foul. They should have told you you'd be brought to iTunes or at least that a ยข99 charge is expected.
In google searches, everyone talks about how the only way you can get it is to pay for it. Luckily Webkittyn and her paid Limewire account found the ONLY copy as a file share. It seems the advertising of the world has chosen to exemplify it's cheesy roots and continue it's deceptions.
I cry "SHENANIGANS!"
