Lately I've found a few shows that amuse the hell out of me in the last few weeks. Who says summer TV sucks?
I enjoy things like "Monk" and "The Dead Zone" but testosterone asked for something meaty and I think I found it.
Who would think that Aaron (Love Boat/ Beverly Hills 90210/ Fantasy Island) Spelling would produce a show that wasn't a campy cop show like his Shatnerized "T.J. Hooker"?
Enter "Wanted" on TNT starring Gary Cole as a tough commander of an elite crime squad made up of different professionals in law enforcement whose mission is to take down 100 of L.A.'s most wanted. What a show! All you need is to add the word "fuck" to the script and it would be like any R rated movie. The violence is realistic and raw. The writing is intense in its action... And naughty words are not taboo! Gary Cole has come a long way from Mr. Brady and Uncle Bill.
The stories are intense. I guess everyone is trying to push that C.S.I. Factor (back when the show wasn't all about the gross out).
"Rescue Me". I watched it for the first time last night. I dig it. Dennis Leary and his band of fireman are rather amusing...and they don't have censorship to lessen the intensity that is Learys style. They came off as real. Especially in personal interaction.
Both are great realistic TV in a world of reality shows.
